Pomegranate Season is here
by on 10/29/2009 9:19:28 AM

POMEGRANATE, a 6x6 inch oil on Ampersand Gesso board, was completed in just one hour!  I'm getting faster.   I'm observing more quickly!  And I'm loving this!   I hope you do also.   I love hearing from you! Please leave your comments below or read more about this little gem and the painting below HERE.

Thanks for sending newsletter. Especially interested in your Yupo as I had attempted it several years ago with mixed results. Keep on keeping on. You are going great. S

Carol and Sondra,

Thanks! I so appreciate your encouraging words.

Yes, YUPO is difficult if you don't have a good teacher who is also very patient and knows some good tricks for this challenging substrate.

Join my watercolor class in Troy at the Troy Hayner Cultural Center for lots of tricks and a wonderfully fun time!!

Dear Donna:

I loved the depth of color and the idea was a good one also. I enjoyed your demo at the Cincinnati Watercolor Society so much and love to check out your website. Keep up the good work. Jane

Hi Jane!!

Nice to hear from you.

Glad you like my site and I LOVED being in Cincy!!!

Right now, I'm working (simultaneously!) on another pomegranate oil AND a huge abstract watercolor on YUPO. I'll post those next week!

Pomegranates are my least favorite fruit. The colors are lovely.

This painting shows how your gift from God is maturing more and more. You did such a beautiful job with this pomegranate, but I also noticed something else very interesting about this painting. The blue background looks like a painting of outer space. I can see close clusters of stars, single, brighter stars, and nebulae. I know that's not what you were painting, but I can see it so clearly. Maybe it's because I have such a love for outer space that I immediately saw it.

The title, which I saw before having a chance to look at the painting, prompted me to buy some lovely pomegranates. Yum.

Today I had the opportunity to take a peek. Lovely! Thanks for sharing. (I haven't commented before, but I enjoy your blog).

You are also inspiring me to do more small paintings. Now to get them framed!
