More Smokies!! (& Brian's artwork)

After a wonderful week of rest in this remote cabin (on the upper left),
I came home to paint some of the beautiful vistas of the GREAT SMOKEY MOUNTAINS.
This is just one of many Smokey Mountain paintings to come!!

SOMETHING NEW FOR MY WEBSITE...BRIAN'S ARTWORK....
Trained in color and design when he was studying architecture at Ohio State, my son Brian not only is a great critic and pushes my work to the next and better level (always!); he is an artist in his own right.  I'll be posting his work once in a while and his work will also be a part of this website under "Artwork."  After clicking on Artwork, you can see his sculptures in his Sculpture Collection.   The others will be under Abstract & Christian. So please come to the site often to see if he has something new!

This beautiful 40 inch tall cross sculpture was Brian's Christmas gift to his fiance, Daisy.
Hand carved, and specific to your wishes, Brian is taking commissions for these crosses.   To see more about this cross, or to order one for yourself please CLICK HERE.   Or scroll down to see Brian's smaller works in ink (very small).

All of Brian's pieces below are hanging in the CLOUD NINE CREATIONS gallery in Covington, Ohio (27 N High).   Hours are 12-6 daily.

Donna - These las two paintings - from the Smokies, are fantastic - you have really captured the feeling of the area. These are the best I've seen - keep painting this area more and more

I am touring the country with your paintings, we might use them to choose our next vacation site.
Love these.

Hi Donna,
I like this painting of your vacation site. I am a character from your past - way past:) I ran across your work on the Ohio Plein Air Painters site, and just thought I would tell you that I like your work.
A lot of water has flowed under the proverbial bridge since you taught at Fairlawn and I at Jackson Center.
Hope you are well.

Your painting has me longing to visit that area. How beautiful! I really like how detailed you made this one. I also like the "green" color. Green is usually not one of your dominant colors, so I always enjoy it when you use it.

A truly perfect hide-a-way!

Once again I am drawn into you painting because of all the beautiful colors you put into them. I just want to walk right up that path and sit on theporch and enjoy the view.

LOL!!
That "path" (the driveway) was our greatest challenge of an otherwise fabulous week. The drive is one car wide, has a 90 degree turn, and is also very steep! Not only that, but, on one side of this narrow driveway it has NO shoulder, drops straight down the mountain! Our 4-wheel drive was a must! And if it had rained, I think we would have opted not to go anywhere. Thankfully, the weather was sunny, snow still on the ground in areas, and ice hanging on the cliff sides. So gorgeous!!

Thanks to all of my dear friends for your encouraging comments! Donna

I thought about the steepness of the drive, but I figured it was only a path to walk up not drive up. You made it so inviting, it is surprising that there was so much stress related to it.

We spent a few days of our honeymoon forty four years ago in the Smokey Mountains. I only wish it had been in this cabin. I could have walked up that hill a lot easier then. (LOL) Lovely painting!
