DEEP CALLS UNTO DEEP
by on 2/17/2010 10:36:57 AM

Psalm 42:7
This psalm is a favorite of mine.  It examines the depth of the call of God on our hearts and our cry to know Him more.  I think many in the Christian realm are at this place today in their lives.   It's a good place to be!

DEEP CALLS UNTO DEEP is a small study (5  x 7 inches) for a larger work (2 x 3 feet) for an exhibit coming up soon.   To see more information on this piece, CLICK HERE.  This exhibit will be held at the Synesthesia Gallery, Centerville, Ohio.   The opening is March 19th and I would love to see you there!   The hours for the reception are 6-9 pm.   The show will run from March 19 till April 30.  A number of my exciting students from Troy Hayner Cultural Center will be exhibiting with me.   For more information on this event, please CLICK HERE.  I will be teaching a fun workshop in conjunction with this show.   For information about the WORKSHOP, CLICK HERE.

What a peaceful piece this is. Tranquility flows from this picture.
Thanks for such a blessing.

The deep contrasts in this work encourage, and beckon you to leave the heat of the day and encourage you to continue to deeper place where a more palatable degree of warmth, and light will be your reward!

Kathy and Helen,

Thank you so much for your comments.
I love the way the Lord draws me to Him.
DEEP calls to DEEP.........that inner place of depth in my soul.

I see the sin of those who have called on His Name buried in the depths of the sea. Cool, cleansing water.

Nice thoughts there, Judy! Thanks!

I'll give some of those suggestions a try!!

However, when watercolor is left to dry on the surface of yupo; the watercolor does it's own thing! Unwanted colors sometimes result, like that green you see. Those green shapes bothered me, too. Not so much the color, but the placement of the colors and the same size of the shapes. But, again, those weren't planned, just dried that way.

I do wonder however, if this painting would have that DEEP feeling with lighter colors? I STILL want to try your suggestions anyway!! Naples yellow is luscious!!

See you for lunch today!!

The red and blue do need the relief of another color in small spots but that particular green isn''t working as well as some other choices might. Perhaps you might try another small one before you go big using naples yellow or even coastal fog, both having lots of white. Maybe what I want to see is white in tiny accents. Or what would you think of pale peach?

Just thoughts for your consideration.
